Course Qualifications

If you are working directly with children or looking to pursue a career working with young children then our fantastic two day paediatric first aid certificate is for you. This is a two day course based on 12 hours teaching time with the tutor. We ensure all our qualifications are delivered with a fun and enjoyable approach, with emphasis on allowing you to gain hands on practical paediatrics first aid experience. Paediatric First Aid Course Content

First Aid Course delivers this course via two mandatory units, to ensure you have the skills and competence to understand the following topic areas.

Unit 1: To be able to deliver Paediatric Emergency First Aid for a range of incidences.

Unit 2: Be able to Manage Paediatric Illnesses and Injuries.

These two units are delivered using both theoretical and practical learning methods to ensure you enjoy and gained a large amount of knowledge / experience while on the course:

To be able to assess a range of paediatric based emergency situations and act professionally, safely, and effectively.
To be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive infant or child who maybe breathing normally or abnormally.
Understanding the key roles and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider.
Have a good understanding of how to provide first aid to an infant or child with a foreign body airway obstruction.
To be able to provide first aid to an infant / child that is wounded and/or breathing.
To be able to provide paediatric first aid to an infant or child with a suspected dislocation / fracture or give first aid for a head, back or knee injury.
Have a good understanding of how to provide first aid to an infant or child suffering from shock.
Be competent enough to provide a child or infant that is suffering with the effects of extreme hot or cold with first aid.
Have a good understanding of how to give first aid to an infant or child with conditions affecting the eyes, nose and ears
Be competent enough to provide an infant or child with chronic medical condition or sudden illness using first aid techniques.
Have a good understanding and be competent to provide first aid to an infant or child that has been burnt, scalded or suffered from electric shock.
Have a good understanding of how to provide first aid to an infant or child that has been bitten, stung or poisoned.

Paediatric First Aid Course Entry Requirements

First Aid Course do not require you to have any prior qualifications in first aid; all you need to have is a basic level of English speaking and writing. We can offer any additional support with the course if required, all you will need to do is let us know if you have any learning needs and we can put the relevant support in place for you.

The Level 2 Paediatric First Aid Course allows you to progress onto the Level 3 qualification if you wanted to develop more knowledge and understanding. The government guidelines are you must have a minimum of a Level 2 Paediatrics Course if you are working with infants / children. Level 2 Paediatric First Aid Course Assessments

The course will include the completion of some informal assessments, so you can feel relaxed when completing basic oral and practical assessments throughout the course. Our tutors will make sure everyone feels relaxed about carrying out practical demonstrations and where possible they will provide additional support throughout the course. Our PASS rates are at 100%. The tutor will observe you carrying out some practical demonstrations of you providing paediatrics first aid and answering questions about various incidences.

Once you have successfully passed the qualification you will be sent a certificate which can be used to show your employers / potential employers to prove you are competent to deliver first aid to both infants and children.

You are expected to attend a two day course which is only 6 hours contact time per day with one of our specialised tutors.
