Do teachers need first aid training?

First aid is an important skill for everyone, no matter what job role you have. Knowing even the basics of first aid can make a big difference during an emergency situation.

If you are a teacher, you’ll need first aid that is suitable to be practiced on children, particularly if you work in a primary school or nursery. If you work with young secondary school children, you’ll also reap the rewards of having a paediatric first aid qualification.

Why is it important for teachers to have first aid training?

Even if your school has a qualified nurse in employ it’s still incredibly important for teachers to have first aid training.

Not only does being first aid trained mean teachers can act quickly in a specific situation to ensure appropriate action is taken as soon as possible, if the nurse is unavailable, you can ensure the child receives the help they need.

There are a number of situations in which teachers can benefit from having a first aid qualification, for example, if a child slips in the playground while the teacher is on duty, during a P.E lesson or just general accidents during the school day.

At First Aid Courses, we are passionate that teachers should have a first aid qualification to help them act confidently and appropriately in first aid situations.
